Training Spots

Locals Salento Kitesurf operates on 6 spots in Salento.

Torre San Giovanni

All levels
Ionian Coast Maestrale (NW)

The pedagogical spot par excellence in Salento. A shallow lagoon protected by a sandbank creates ideal conditions for learning. The Maestrale thermal wind sets in at midday with remarkable regularity from June to September, blowing between 15 and 20 knots. In winter, the southeast Sirocco brings more committed conditions with medium to strong waves.

Porto Cesareo

Intermediate to Expert
Ionian Coast Maestrale (NW)

The most famous spot in Puglia. Porto Cesareo offers two distinct zones: the La Strea lagoon with its water flat as a mirror, perfect for freestyle and foil, and the main bay with its waves on the outer reef. In winter, the southeast Sirocco generates powerful conditions with medium to large waves. Protected marine area with strict regulations.

Torre Mozza

All levels
Ionian Coast Sirocco (SE)

Torre Mozza, located between Gallipoli and Torre San Giovanni, offers a fine sand beach with calm and shallow water. It is an excellent spot for beginners and intermediates. The Locals Salento Kitesurf school is based here and offers courses for all levels. The spot is less crowded than its neighbors, offering more space on the water.

Frigole

Advanced
Adriatic Coast Tramontana (N)

When the Tramontana blows from the north, Frigole transforms into a playground for experienced riders. The long and regular swell (1 to 2 meters) offers perfect conditions for wave-riding and committed jumps. The spot is uncrowded, offering a rare sense of freedom. Scuola Kite Lecce ASD gives its courses here.

San Foca

Versatile
Adriatic Coast Tramontana (N)

A versatile spot that works with several wind orientations. The Grecale (northeast) creates an ideal chop for freestyle and jumps. The complete tourist infrastructure (nearby harbor, accommodations, restaurants) makes it a comfortable base for a kite stay on the Adriatic coast.

Frassanito

Advanced
Adriatic Coast Tramontana (N)

Frassanito is a wild spot on the Adriatic coast, between the Alimini lakes and the sea. North winds can easily exceed 20 knots, strengthening by 5 to 6 knots in the afternoon. The spot offers committed conditions with waves and current, reserved for experienced riders.
